Safeguarding

Safeguarding is of the upmost importance at Woodland Grange. We work to provide a safe, caring and healthy environment for our children. Every member of staff will endeavour to look after their physical, emotional and social needs. They will be alert to possible concerns and report these immediately to the safeguarding team in school. The school has a safeguarding, child protection, safe internet and ICT usage policies: parents may request a copy of these.

We have a duty of care to every child at our school. We will seek advice or make referrals to Leicestershire County Council (and other outside agencies) if we believe that a child is at risk or is not having their basic needs met.

OPERATION ENCOMPASS

Leicester City and Leicestershire County schools are part of Operation Encompass (a safeguarding initiative aimed at improving outcomes for children and families affected by domestic violence and abuse).

Operation Encompass is a protocol whereby schools are formally notified of any reported incident of domestic violence at an address at which children are present or normally resident. It is run in partnership with Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and with Leicestershire Police and covers the whole county.  Information will be shared with the Designated Safeguarding Lead in school.

Information will be used to ensure the school is able to provide appropriate support to pupils. It will remain confidential and will only be shared on a strictly need-to-know basis.
