EYFS

Welcome to Foundation stage

The children are making a fantastic start to their school journey so far. We will be updating Dojo with photos and information about some of the things we will be doing at school.

To begin with, the children will be completing the Reception Baseline Assessment. This will help us to get to know the children further and their individual starting points.

Later on in the month, we will be holding a phonics information session for parents which will help you to understand in more detail, how to best support your children’s reading and writing skills at home, as well as an overview of what phonics looks like at Woodland Grange for our Foundation Stage children.

PE

The children have a PE session weekly, this is led by our sports coach Mr Evans who is supported by our sports apprentice, Mr Rehal. While the children are still getting used to their new school routines, they will be doing PE in their uniform, only removing shoes and socks. We will send out letters later on in the term regarding their house groups and PE kit information.

Forest school

We are still finalising the start dates for our forest school sessions and will inform you when your child’s session is due to start. It would be great if your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies which can be kept in school as we use these regularly throughout the year.

Reminders:

  • Please ensure children have a set of indoor shoes that can be kept in our cloakroom
  • Please ensure children are bringing water bottles daily (water only, no juice please)
  • Please ensure you are ordering your child’s school lunch via the Arbor app
  • We ask that children do not bring toys from home, these often get lost or broken and can result in lots of upset.
